Spring Bloom

by Emma Creasey

Spring Bloom is a series of paintings by Australian painter, Emma Creasey.

As the spring season approaches, the paintings explore a moment with nature. See the paintings below, and a personal note from Emma.

A Note from Emma Creasey

For ‘In Bloom’ I wanted to create the impression of a private moment enjoyed in nature. It felt important to depict the character in a state of familiar comfort, laying in the grass with her cake and vase set up in front of her.

I created ‘At the table’ to connect the two paintings, whether interpreted as the scene before the girl took her cake outside, or viewed as someone else's private moment at home. However it's seen, I like the idea that

the view through the window suggests we are not too far from the landscape depicted in ‘In Bloom.’

While we discussed ideas for these paintings, Natalia was facing the onset of Spring in America, and I was facing an upcoming Winter in Australia. I like to think the deep colours represent a combination of both seasons from across the Pacific, coming together to create the impression of another world entirely.
